The Voice for Gun Control

I’m not much of a TV person, but I did get hooked on THE VOICE for the past 2 years plus. I enjoy the competition and when Pharrell became a coach he directed the genre into spiritual inspiration, encouraging authencity while interjecting a few wise words in for planetary health and wholeness, which I enjoyed watching all the more.

Now THE VOICE is about to launch their 11th(I think), season this coming September and I am wondering if they will pay homage to the young Christina Grimmie, one of THE VOICE’S, top contestants who was gunned down in cold blood while she was meeting and greeting her fans before her concert in Orlando, Florida this past June. For those who don’t know Christina, 22, apparently opened her arms to hug a fan when he opened fire. Her brother tackled him, which, more than likely prevented him from killing others. Her untimely, unjust, and cruel death was overshadowed by the rampant shooting at the nightclub Pulse, whereby, 49 club-goers where incomprehensibly killed in Orlando, Florida as well, the following evening.

Christina was on Levine’s team and she appeared to be one of his most beloved contestants.  She was to say the least adorable. I downloaded her remake of Drake’s Hold On We’re Coming Home. This young woman had depth and talent. Levine, like so many must have been crushed.

So what is THE VOICE going to do in the wake of this horror, with their glitzy new season right around the corner? Are they in any way going to pay homage to Christina Grimmie? Is this not the ultimate opportunity for Adam Levine, along with, the almighty and powerful execs at Comcast, NBC, Universal, and Xfinity- ahh who did I forget oh yeah Time-Warner (are they really all one company now?) to utilize their VOICES and speak out for gun control?

It feels shallow and cheap for me to now turn on THE VOICE with a show must go on type attitude for, as far as I know none of the big VOICE super stars has courageously used their VOICE to pay tribute and acknowledge the insanity that surrounds the rampant misuse of guns and the now daily threats they pose to each and every American. Did NBC stand-up for this young woman? Is there any money, show, or songs donated to a cause that helps to end the madness that ended the life of one of their own?

Another moment of silence does not cut the cake here, anymore, ever. Please correct me if I am wrong, Adam, NBC, someone, anyone because I feel there is no better time than now to stand for those who have mercilessly fallen to the egregious and diseased acts of such violence.  And yeah, Adam, I’d be more than happy to help you launch THE VOICE FOR GUN CONTROL anytime.

Stay True,

Maggygrace
